He Bottles Your Tears

I love looking at the names of God because His name reveals something of His nature and character.
One of the beautiful names revealed in Scripture is El Roi, meaning “the God who sees.” We find this name in Genesis 16, in the story of Hagar.
Hagar had experienced rejection, mistreatment and pain. Eventually, she ran away into the wilderness, seemingly alone and forgotten. But she wasn’t forgotten by God. The angel of the Lord found her there and spoke to her. Hagar encountered the God who saw her in the middle of her circumstances, and she responded by calling Him El Roi—the God who sees me (Genesis 16:13).
He Sees You
Perhaps today you need to be reminded of this simple truth: God sees you.
He sees when you’ve been mistreated. He sees when people have misunderstood you or spoken falsely about you. He sees the things nobody else knows about. He sees the battles you fight privately. He sees every tear you’ve shed. You are not hidden from Him.
Sometimes our circumstances can make us feel invisible. We can wonder, Does anyone actually see what I’m going through? Does anyone understand how much this hurts? Yes. God sees you.
But it goes even further than that. He doesn’t simply see you—He hears you.
He Sees Your Tears
David gives us one of the most beautiful pictures of God’s personal care in Psalm 56:
“You’ve kept track of all my wandering and my weeping. You’ve stored my many tears in your bottle—not one will be lost. For they are all recorded in your book of remembrance. The very moment I call to you for a father’s help the tide of battle turns and my enemies flee. This one thing I know: God is on my side! I trust in the Lord. And I praise him! I trust in the Word of God. And I praise him! What harm could man do to me? With God on my side I will not be afraid of what comes. My heart overflows with praise to God and for his promises. I will always trust in him.” Psalm 56: 8-11 (TPT)
What an incredible picture!
Your tears are not insignificant to God. Your pain isn’t invisible to Him. Your prayers aren’t falling into an empty room.
He sees. He hears. He remembers.
And David goes on to declare, “This one thing I know: God is on my side!” (Psalm 56:9, TPT).
That doesn’t mean David had no enemies or difficulties. In fact, he was surrounded by trouble. But he had discovered something greater than the trouble surrounding him: God was with him. That same God is with you.
God Is For You
Romans 8:31 asks,
“If God is for us, who can be against us?” (NIV).
You may not understand everything you are walking through today. You may not have answers to every question. You may still be waiting for justice, restoration or breakthrough.
But you can know this:God sees you.God hears you.God is with you.God is for you.
So take courage today. Bring your pain to Him. Bring your questions to Him. Bring your tears to Him. You don’t have to pretend you’re okay when you’re not.
The God who met Hagar in the wilderness is still the God who sees His people today.
And like David, you can say, “I trust in the Lord. And I praise him!” (Psalm 56:10, TPT).
Your circumstances may not have changed yet, but you are not facing them alone.
El Roi sees you.
Believe & Confess Meditation & Declaration
I am never hidden from God; He sees me and knows me completely [Genesis 16:13; Psalm 139:1–3]. God sees every tear and cares deeply about what I am walking through [Psalm 56:8]. When I call to Him, He hears me [Psalm 34:17]. God is on my side, and I will not live in fear of what people can do to me [Psalm 56:9–11]. I trust in the Lord and choose to praise Him even in difficult seasons [Psalm 56:10]. I am surrounded by the presence of a God who is for me and will never leave me [Romans 8:31; Hebrews 13:5].
